In-Home Music Theory and Jazz Improv Lessons

If you have musical goals, New Brighton's instructors can guide you every step of the way.  

From writing your first melody or learning to solo over jazz changes,  our lessons make theory approachable and improvisation exciting. We help young musicians understand how music works and express themselves with confidence.

We tailor every lesson to meet the student where they are, just starting to understand chord progressions, preparing for an AP theory exam, or learning to improvise their first solo. From middle school musicians to advanced high schoolers and returning adult learners, our teachers make complex concepts feel clear and engaging, while nurturing a lifelong love of music.

We teach all styles, from rock, pop and jazz to country, blues and classical.

How qualified are New Brighton's  instructors?

Music theory and jazz improv lessons are taught by Doug Ehlert -- a seasoned music teacher and performer with over 20 years of experience. Doug earned a BA in Music from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and maintains an active performance and teaching schedule.

Lessons are available seven days a week, and scheduled once a week.  A one-time registration fee is $25.
